One of the biggest problems is to get the clarity to decide in the best way…
We have 5 hindrances to get clarity, explains the Buddhism.
1. Sensual desires.
2. Ill will / aversion.
3. Dullness, heaviness.
4. Restlessness.
5. Skeptical doubt.
1. Our 5 senses including our emotions are driving our decision.
By a temptation, we can lose our focus to make the best decision…
Our sensual desires become obsession and so we lose the path and our clarity.
2. If we have dislikes or aversion for something then this aversion can hinder us…
And that we see everywhere. People are driven by their likes and dislikes; this means they have no clarity.
In our Ashram we have learned to do every work, everywhere at every moment… There was no choice… I had a very high reputation because of my meditation, still I cleaned the toilets or the dirty dishes in the late night…The visitor complained about that, why should I do this work… My guru said, because he likes so… And then the visitors liked to help me and so we always had enough people for the worst work… For instance, I cleaned the toilets at a festival and then even the Indian Brahman visitors (who never do such work) helped me…
3. If our body is tired or our mind is tired, we still should do our work accordingly. Non motivation, lack of energy or depression hinder us to do well.
Our training at the Ashram was, regardless of what, do your duty, even if you are ill…
4. Restlessness, the mind can’t focus, can’t relax, or live in the past. Complaining, judging the event in the past. Or the monkey mind constantly jumping from one thought to the other one…
In the Ashram we always repeat the name of the lord, to get connected to god and to have a focus… Or to make music…
5. Unable to make decisions because the mind is fear driven or to try to make the best decision… Very often we can’t make the best decision so we have to decide in a short time and to stick to this decision… You get disconnected with your goals and aspirations if you can not decide.
How to get clarity?
Let it rain…
Recognize which state is your mind.
Accept the situation or the person who is involved…
Investigate your emotional and mental state and ask questions why I am in that state, emotion…? What are the consequences if I remain in that state?
Do non identification practice, I am not the mind, body, emotion or the thoughts.
If we decide by intuition it is much easier and mostly better…
You have to be free of the 5 hindrances… And this, people never like to understand…
We need faith and by our rational mind that is driven by our fear we never will find that faith…
So we connect to the divine to find faith.
Come out of your cell, this means don’t see anything seriously, relax and connect to the divine. Make jokes and then start new.
This I have learned in our Ashram, to make every work, everywhere to every time regardless of what… The first step is to relax.
