I flew to Montreal to hitchhike to the West…
I was in a deep crisis, I just finished my engineering degree…
My whole life I did want to become an engineer…
My family and my teachers thought that this was impossible for me..,
I sacrificed my health, my time for just a stupid degree…
And when I got my degree I knew that I had more lost than won…
So, I hitchhiked over 3000 Km from Montreal to Vancouver and got criticized for how I dealt with other people…
That I should rather more hear than to speak,
to compliment the people who picked me up…
At the end of the day, I knew that I was wrong and that I should do Self-experience groups…
Then I had the idea to go to Vancouver Island to trek 8 days through the rain forest without any suitable equipment, no trekking shoes, and a very cheap tent…
I went by ferry to the island, camped at the first campground…
Then a 34-year-old girl, Heidi invited me to go with her the trail…
I was only 24 years old, still a virgin…
I told her, I have no experience, no equipment …
She said don’t worry I will get for you the food, mosquito repellent and for the other things don’t care…
You are strong, I don’t see the problem, why you can’t do that…
When I today remember my equipment, even my raincoat was a joke, …
I put everything in my backpack and the backpack was over 22Kg…
Who cares, I had a great guide…
It was cold and raining, the mosquitoes and black-flies were biting like crazy and my raincoat was inside more wet than outside, so my shoes.
And Heidi was cheerful and showed me the Hummingbird, the clean water wells …awesome old trees … And in the night we made a fire, then a raccoon stole my food …
I relied totally on her, but she didn’t like that…
She said you are the man you have to worry for us and not me…
Now, you have to find the trail, the water, the places to camp and to eat…
It is up to you…
I don’t care for you, I am not your mother.
Heidi studied psychology and she knew what she could do with me…
She wanted that I become independent and strong…
Regardless of what happened, she shifted her responsibility total on me…
“You have to decide not me,” she shouted again and again.
And that is what a great teacher is!!!

Then my tent broke and she said don’t care you can sleep in my tent…
I became her guide, her friend for this trail and my crises were over…
After the trail, we wanted to celebrate with delicate food in a restaurant… And we entered a vegetarian restaurant afterward I became a vegan…
